What are my plans and how do I spend the holidays?

My plans for the holidays are maybe going to Merida and Maracaibo, it all depends on how the roads are because of the rain. I try to go every Christmas to Maracaibo because my dad's family lives there and I have a great time. I usually sleep a lot, we have very good food, we prepare hayacas, we have a lot of parties and birthdays. I love Christmas because I celebrate it with my family all , we have a very big table were we have, hayacas, pernil, pan de jamon, ensalda de gallina, etc. Last year it was different because I went to Europe and I really missed Venezuelan traditions but it was also cool. Something I like a lot about Christmas is that we do Secret Santa, well I organize it with my friends in school but also with other friends, and it is REALLY cool! I love celebrating Christmas in my uncle's house were we have a very BIG tree and there's a lot of presents, and one person stands there and starts calling out for who is it. This is my favorite time of the Year I really enjoy Christmas.. I feel happy all the time, I can sleep a lot, I have a lot of parties, I go out with my friends, I have a lot of dinners, I buy a lot of presents and I also receive a lot of presents. Also we have a lot of shows and I love singing and acting! :) It's a very nice time in the year to reflect on everything we have done good and bad and to do it better. When the year ends and we start a new year, I feel like it is a fresh start, a new opportunity to start over and make the correct decision and keep on learning from my mistakes. What I hope is that everyone knows the reason why they are celebrating it..

The proccess doing my project!!

This was not a hard project but it did teach me a lot. My project is about relations, what I first did was look into my notes and study them until I had everything covered up and I knew what the topic was about. I chose relations because it is a topic that I liked and understand. My notes helped me a lot and I also searched in the internet to find more things, and what I found were things that I had in my notes.

First I gathered up my information and then I started writing them into posts. Everything came out to be very well and I really liked doing this project!

My Project

My math project is going pretty well.. although I want to work on it in class some time, so when I need help I can get Mr. Davis's help. I have been researching on relations and looking back in my notes. Relations is a topic I understanded and I knew how to do so that is why I chose it. I am planning to do like a blog of Relations because I don't know who to do a website :S.. I still need to keep on working on it, but I really want to work on it in class at least once. Right now what I just need a some more information and some images in order to make the website..

Hardest Math Topic So Far

For me the hardest Math topic so far, or at least one I didn't quite understand was the d= r x t (distance is equal to rate times time.) I don't know why but I didn't understand, and I didn't understand when we needed to put it in a chart and then do an equation with it. When I studied it, there were times I knew how to do it, and do the chart and then the equation but it was complicated for me, I don't know how to do it now. Well, this is the only topic I don't understand of the ones we have studied, there have been ones that I don't understand in the beginning, but I always learn it after.

What is the best way you learn in the math class and why?

My best way for learning in Math class is working in cool activities. I learn a lot doing the examples in the book and working on the problems but I would also learn if we can do some activities like standing up ands throwing a ball and asking question. There is also a really cool game in which I learned a lot and made me add, multiply, subtract, and divide much faster (even integers) that is called "Pistolero" that may help. Also videos make me learn a lot and movies (well, it depends). My point is that I learn a lot working on the problems of the book and doing the examples that are given to me, but sometimes that may get boring and I can't concentrate when I am bored, so once in a while we can do some activities that are fun and can excite us a little and we may learn a lot! =)

Ways I have used math recently in my life..

I always use math in my life, I realized that a few days ago. When I go to the movies I need to calculate about how much money will I need, buying the tickets, the food, maybe after I will want to buy something, etc. I also used it when I need to pay my cellphone bill, for example when I owe money how much money to I need to pay to recover it and have more. I use it in my daily life calculating how many hours will I sleep, how many days till my birthday. I always try to find out in what dates and months you need to be born in 1997 in 2011 to have 14. (Its kind of complicated to explain what I'm trying to address.)

My Perfecct Math Class would be...

My perfect math class would be, one in which we watch an interesting math movie that we like and we learn. Another one could be like doing as poster in teams about the topic we are learning, believe me we learn a lot with posters. It would be really cool if we could do activities, like not only writing down and solving math problems but also playing games, asking questions, and also drawing. My perfect math class would be working on something that we need to use creativity, that involves posters, drawing, doing physical things. Maybe there could be a class were we need to investigate on a important math person or an important thing, and then do a model, or poster of it. It would be cool doing activities with materials.

What shape would I be...

If I could be a shape I would be a star. I like a lot stars, they are impressive because they are so shinny and we can only see them at night, from Earth they look little but they are huge and they twinkle. I would like to be a star because when people are compared to stars that means they are successful, with fame, they are special and people are proud of you. My mom told me that when I was born I was born with a star in my forehead, I imagine it was something symbolical which meant I am going to be a successful person with a lot of "luck" in my life. I would like to shine like a star, I may look little but I am big. Stars are beautiful, in Los Roques the sky is full of stars and it is really amazing. I love drawing stars, I know that in reality stars are not how people draw them, but I would like to be that shape, I would like to make people happy with my shinny shape.

How would my world be different if I was only 12 inches tall

My world would be totally different if I was 12 inches because, I would see everyone like giant people, everything would be huge and I wouldn't fit in society. Maybe I would see everything different, like I may get in love with the Ken of a Barbie, I would use Barbie clothes, I would be treated like a doll. My world would completely be different, I would not eat the same amount of food, maybe I would not study because the books are too big, bigger than me, and with that little size I would not be able to hear the teacher or anyone talk. I wouldn't be respected because of my little size and all the things I can't do. Maybe I wouldn't even have friends, because I would not be capable of doing anything of what normal people do, go party, go to the movies, do sports, hang around, going shopping. Everything would have to be fixed for my size and people would laugh at me, stare at me, and would treat me like a toy. I wouldn't be able to play sports because the balls are bigger than me, and people would kick me around. I would not only be physically different but psychologically and emotionality too, my perspective of life and the world would be different, maybe I would think that my apartment is the whole world, and Barbie's house is a mansion.

In some way it may be cool, there would be a girl that would care about me and treat me like a doll, she would buy me everything that Barbies have, I would have millions of accessories, clothes, mansions, cars, boyfriends, different settings, I would have everything that a human girl would want, I would have a lot of attention on me. I can travel anywhere free because I fit in a back pack, so I can be taken anywhere! Maybe my life would be awesome, or maybe not !

Math I used in my Lagunazo trip

In Lagunazo there were several ways I used math, for example:

- I used math to count how many girls there were in my cabin and how we were going to distribute the time and showers we had because there were not enough for each.

-I also used math to know how many people were in my team and how were we going to divide our selfs to have an equal amount of people in each position.

-We needed to use a lot of coordinates in Lagunazo and that has to do with math, we needed to know how many meters was the lagoon (25 mts.)

-There was one night in which we needed to make a skit and it needed to last 4 min. so we had to calculate how long would each part take with everyone participating.

-I also needed to calculate my speed in the "Amazing Race" and how much water I need to last a kilometer.

Can You Fit 100 Candles on a Cake?- Project

I think this project is going to be an interesting one because I like knowing what is going to happen in the future. It is not going to be easy but we can surely do it, it would be cool if we could do this project as pairs or teams. I will learn a lot about the past and about the future, and I think it may be quite fun. This project will take time but it is worth it because I know I will learn a lot, and all the great ideas there will be for the future because to reach to the age of 100 its hard so I really want to know what are they going to invent for people to reach that old. I am really looking forward to do this project and I hope it results to be fun.

Three Questions

1.) I want to know if we are going to do a cool project this year, like in pairs and do like a model of something? I want to know because I like doing projects with partners, like making the sculpture of something, etc.

2.) Can we do like a mini party at the end of each semester? (with movies, food, etc.) Because this would be a nice way of ending each semester.

3.) Can we do a field trip? I want to know because it would be a fun way to learn math.

How do you best study for math exams and what grades are you expecting in math this year?

The way I like studying best for math is doing like a review sheet that the teacher gives me. Last year Ms. L gave us review sheets with the exact questions there were going to be in the test but in the test she used other numbers. I like studying with the things that are going to be in the test and memorize what is necessary. I am looking forward to have a 7 in math because I know I am capable of having it, and minimum of a 6 but I really don't want a 5 or less. I am a person that is always looking forward to do beyond what they are asking for and a don't like giving up. I want to have 7 or 6 in math and in all of my classes and I don't want to be under the honor roll because I have never been under and I wish I never will. I am looking forward to be a great student and with the energy to study and concentrate to have a great grade. I also like studying in class because I can ask questions to the teacher and my classmates.

What do you expect from this year in math?

First of all I expect that my teacher is patient with us while teaching because sometimes I may get confused or not understanding what he is saying and I would like him to repeat if it is needed. I expect not having loads of homework I think it is all right having homework but not too much because we have other classes with other homeworks. I really expect learning a lot this year it would be good if sometimes we could work like groups because learning from each other may work out. I expect to love math because overall I am good at it sometimes I get confused in some things but after some practice I get to understand it. I expect to have some team or personal projects that encourage us to want to learn more. It would be nice if there is something we are learning that a recognizable person discovered or an important part of the history had to do with it for us to study it or do a project about it. What I mostly expect is to have an organized class, where you feel that it is a good place to learn, and I want to feel happy and with energy to work and with my teacher with good humor most of the time.
